43 and Fabulous

Stronger Physically, Emotionally and Mentally

At the start of 2020, Rocio Vizcarra made a commitment.

She pledged to take better care of her health and make herself a priority.

The past two years had been filled with physiotherapy and acupuncture due to a chronic leg injury. Now that she fully recovered, it was time to get back to her fitness goals.

And everything was going great until March when the Pandemic hit.

It would have been so easy to quit – but instead, Rocio kept going.

Although she could no longer attend in-person classes, she could continue to attend virtual ones. And that's exactly what she did.

“I didn’t want to stop the momentum and determination I had before. I also didn't want to lose sight of my goal to take better care of myself,” she explains. “I was in the mindset to acknowledge that there are some things in life I can control and some things I can't,” she explains.

So Rocio honoured the commitment she made to herself at the start of the year, and pushed through and keep going.

She continues to honour that commitment to herself every single week - attending 3 to 4 LIVE classes from the comfort of her home.

On Saturdays, her three daughters (8. 11, 14) also join her.

“Some days are harder than others, but when you put your mind to a goal, you can see the big picture and things fall into place. These times have taught me that you might get overwhelmed and you may feel uneasy, but you will get through it.”

Rocio's advice to others just getting started?

Keep going to class!

Even while she was recovering from her calf injury, she showed up, modified her workouts and maintained her motivation and fitness level.

“It doesn’t seem like a lot, but this will become a habit, and habits make changes in your everyday life.”

And what about those days when you just don’t FEEL like it? (And we can all relate to this – especially as the weather get colder and the days shorter.)

Rocio shares her strategy for when that hits.

“When this happens to me, I take a deep breath, focus, make a plan to commit again and remember the real reason I started and regroup. In the end, you will become stronger physically, emotionally and mentally.”

Awesome advice Rocio! We are so proud of your determination, dedication, and incredible mindset.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and congratulations on all your success!
